Turn off TV Week is Sept. 19-25

From September 19-25, families across the country will be turning off the screens in their house and observing TV Turnoff Week. Robert Kesten, executive director of the Center for Screen-Time Awareness (CSTA), the official home for Turnoff Week (www.tvturnoff.org), describes it as "a time to turn off recreational use of electronic screened media and engage in real time with real people."

Can You Still Breastfeed Your New Baby and Return To Work?

Many new moms who breastfeed their babies want to keep doing so as long as possible. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a baby be breast fed for at least a year. There's plenty of evidence that breast feeding benefits mom and baby, mentally and physically, and it saves money, too.

Musuem of Art Shares Sculpture with Local Library


A massive outdoor sculpture, "Antelumpen" (1997) by Zachary Coffin, will be moved from the Birmingham Museum of Art to Five Points West Regional Branch Library on Thursday, May 27. The Museum's preparation staff will begin the diassembly and move of the sculpture, which will take several hours, outside the Museum's main entrance at 7:30 a.m. The staff will reassemble the sculpture in front of the library on Thursday afternoon.
